Bill C-6, an Act to amend the Citizenship Act and make consequential amendments to another Act, received Royal Assent on June 19, 2017, which means it’s now a law. Not all the changes take place immediately, some changes expected to take effect in fall 2017 and early 2018. This change is expected to be beneficial to thousands of immigrants to Canada.
