The Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) came into force in 2014, it included a 3-year transition period that allowed organizations like NepSoSS to rely on deemed implied consent for sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs) such as emails, texts. That transition period, and the implied consent, expires on July 1, 2017. This means that NepSoSS can no longer rely on this implied consent, and will have to remove recipients from our mailing lists by July 1, 2017 or get a new consent. This change will not affect active General Members because their membership is renewed every year, which also results in getting their consent.

However, Life Members and Inactive General Members will need to give NepSoSS new consent. All the Life Members have been communicated in this regards. We will contact Inactive Members soon. Members who do not give NepSoSS new consent by June 30, 2017 will receive NepSoSS Commercial Electronic Message (CEM) until June 30, 2017The life member status remains active even if we do not receive new consent from Life Members.
